Shelby Materials has announced the opening of its newest plant in northern Tipton County, serving Kokomo, Tipton, and surrounding communities.
The expansion marks the 11th plant for Shelby Materials and comes at a pivotal moment for the region. According to the Indiana Business Research Center at Indiana University, Kokomo — long considered one of the state’s slower-growth metros — is now experiencing a resurgence. Major investments in advanced manufacturing, particularly in the automotive sector, are expected to drive sustained economic growth and job creation in the coming years.
“Shelby Materials is proud to bring the Shelby way of doing business with a positive customer experience and delivering quality concrete for any application including residential, agriculture, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects,” said Matt Haehl, president. “This plant stands out for its fully enclosed design and high-speed production capabilities that allow us to support the region’s economic development. We’re investing in the future of Kokomo and Tipton.”
For industrial contractors and developers, the new plant provides expanded access to Shelby Materials’ excellent quality control, dispatch and delivery team, as well as on site sales support guaranteeing concrete orders are on time and in spec.
