Proper Curing

In order for freshly poured concrete to reach maximum optimal strength, proper curing is absolutely essential. If improper or no curing takes place, the concrete will be significantly weakened.
Proper curing takes place when moisture is retained in the concrete for an extended period of time. Wet burlap placed on the concrete was often used until spray on curing compounds became popular. These curing compounds enable the hardened concrete to retain essential moisture for several weeks until it reaches design strength.
For more detailed information on proper concrete curing practices, see Concrete in Practice #11 "Curing In-Place Concrete".
Shelby Materials can deliver the necessary curing compound with your concrete. Ask our dispatchers about adding a curing compound to your order so your concrete reaches its desired strength.
