Joint Free Floors

The purpose of control joints in light commercial floors is for appearance. Most owners feel that cracks are a sign of poor quality, therefore joints are cut to control where the slab cracks. Curling can highlight these joints where a crack is wider than .040 inches (about the thickness of a dime). If floor covering is used, additional dollars must be spent to grind and fill these joints before it is applied.

If we can greatly reduce or eliminate these joints and allow the floor to crack naturally, we find that the floor does not need additional grinding because all cracks are narrow do not curl.
