Structural Concrete

Concrete is used widely in building and civil engineering structures due to its relatively low cost, flexibility, durability and high strength. Some of these projects involved thousands of yards of concrete poured continuously over several days. Others used complicated form systems that were dependent upon the early strength gain of the concrete in order to keep the project moving.

Shelby Materials has been involved in a wide variety of structural projects, such as the Columbus Entertainment District parking garage contracted by F.A. Wilhelm pictured above. Other examples include mass concrete foundations, post-tensioned concrete slabs, streets, parking lots, grain silos, radiation vaults, water towers and bridges.
